A simple haircut?

These pictures were too funny not to share. My sister and I gave Trey a haircut Sunday night and come to find out, from the pictures, the situation looked a lot more like torture instead of haircutting. You can just read Trey's mind in his facial expressions. I promise, he didn't mind the haircut or the loud buzzing sound of the clippers. It was more the man-handling to make him hold still that drove him nuts. And by the way, in Trey's short 19 months of life, this is only his second haircut ever! Enjoy!

A couple of firsts

This weekend Trey had some "firsts"! He went to his first movie, in a theater! On Saturday my sister and her husband wanted to take their son, Drew, to a movie to celebrate his 3rd birthday. We were invited days earlier, but waited until the last minute to decide if we should attempt it or not. We did, and Trey was wonderful! Not to say that this is a new thing for us... I think Trey is still a little young, but the movie and the timing was just right. We saw the movie "Horton Hears a Who" which was so cute. My sister and I grew up watching an old cartoon version of the book, so we were just as excited as the kids to see the new version. The movie was at 10:30 a.m. and Trey had a bucket of popcorn, (refer to earlier post) which made everything perfect. He didn't talk or make noise, he didn't get bored and start wandering around; he just sat in either my or Jordan's lap and watched the "bidio" (video). It was really a lot of fun. He did fall asleep about the last 5 minutes though.

Then, on Sunday, Trey and I were looking at some family pictures on my computer. I asked him, "Who's that?" pointing to a picture of me. He said "Mommy". Then the same question with Jordan's picture, which he answered, "Daddy!" And then (here comes the "first") I said, "Who's that?" pointing to a picture of him. He pointed his finger at his own chest and said, "Trey". Wow!! That's the first time I've heard him say his own name. So cute. Just an exciting moment for a mom.

The results are in!

It's a girl!! We finally, today, in our 24th week of pregnancy, found out we are having a girl! At my last ultrasound the baby did not cooperate, so the doctor made a 75% guess that it was a girl. We didn't want to get our hopes up, so we didn't think about it too much. But now it is official! Jordan's side of the family has 10 grandkids; only 2 girls. My side has 4 grandkids; no girls. So you can imagine that everyone is very excited. Now we can start to shop, decorate, and think of names. Yea!!

A Happy Easter

Easter has come, and gone, so early this year. Strange to think that St. Patrick's Day and Easter were less than a week apart! But it was a great week. The Spring weather has been beautiful and the activities have been fun. Trey's Easter wasn't much last year, being only about 7 months, so this year he was excited for all the fun.

Earlier in the month, when my mom, sister, and I traveled to So. Cali. we went to a small petting zoo called Zoomars in San Juan Capistrano. We had never been before, even though we are down there quite often. It was surprisingly very fun. They had a pen full of, literally, hundreds of bunnies and guinea pigs. Trey and his cousin Drew had a blast feeding them carrots, celery, and lettuce. Trey only had one little scare when a huge bunny jumped over his lap to get to some more food. That was a little too close and personal for him. It was definitely the highlight of the zoo even though I had to cut it short due to allergies kicking up after being around the guinea pigs too long.

(Bunny about to leap; Trey getting a little nervous!)

This past Saturday our ward had an Easter Egg Hunt/ Luncheon. It was to be Trey's official first egg hunt. We knew it would be somewhat chaotic due to a hundred or so primary kids running to every which way, but we thought Trey would at least have a good time. Each child was allowed to collect 5 eggs. Trey got three: two with candy and one that was open with nothing in it. Oh well. I think he still had fun.

And finally, on Sunday, we had a wonderful day at church then a great dinner and egg hunt at my Mom and Dad's house. Trey was dressed to impress in his new Easter outfit. My dad took some cute pictures of my handsome boy.

After dinner Trey and Drew took to the grass and hunted their hearts out for eggs, candy, and toys. Once Trey found a basketball shaped egg, he didn't let go for the rest of the time, shaking it every few seconds to hear the candy rattling. Hope everyone had a happy Easter!

"I'm So Glad When Daddy Gets Home!"

My sister-in-law told on her blog about how her little Cooper loves to wait for his daddy to come home. He stares out the window looking for Mason's car to drive by and gets very upset when it doesn't. The expressions on his face tell it all. So cute. Trey doesn't look out the window. He would rather be outside, in the street, waiting for Jordan's mini cooper to roar around the corner; he jumps in and gets his short car ride to the end of the cul-du-sac and into our driveway. Here he is in all his glory driving daddy's car home!

Lunch with Daddy

Trey and I met Jordan for lunch today at the Springs Preserve. They have great food. Trey loves pizza and is also obsessed with using utensils right now. I guess this is how he likes to eat his pizza. (I did cut some up for him, be he went for the entire slice and ate chunks of crust off the back!)

A fun trip

My mom, sister, and I took a few days to get away with our kids and use our Disneyland annual passes. We stayed at my in-laws beach house in Dana Point. Sometimes (most times) I wished I lived there! (Dana Point is just south of Laguna Beach.)

It was a great trip to just relax and enjoy the great weather in Cali. We spent some time on the beach, and hit up some of our favorites, like Sprinkles (twice), the Irvine Spectrum, and Ruby's.

Jordan and I keep a set of beach cruisers and a trailer down there in the garage. It is always one of the kids' highlights, even if they only get to ride around in the cul-de-sac.

It was a short, but very enjoyable getaway. Can't wait to go back soon!! (You can check out my sister's account of the same trip on her blog The Carters!)

When it rains, it pours... well maybe not in Vegas

It only sprinkles here... occasionally. But that's not the point. It seems like not much has been going on lately; life has been a little slow since Christmas. But then, all of a sudden, 20 things are on going on all at once, or in one weekend that is. (Okay, not 20, but lots.) Now that I'm feeling a little better (still on medication) and have the energy to get out of the house, life starts to pick up the pace.

Saturday morning I went to a bridal shower for Lissa Hale, which was fun. I love getting to see old friends and catching up. I came home to grab Jordan and Trey and we were off to fit in some needed shopping before the rebel game. Then, straight to the game to meet up with the Carters and the Mehrs. It was a great game by the way. Go Rebels!! (Check out Jordan's Rebel Blog for all the details.) At the game we found that Trey not only loves popcorn, but is somewhat obsessed with it. As the game ended, half the bucket was still full, so he clenched his fingers around the container and wouldn't let go. We had to take it home with us. We then went to dinner at Metro Pizza (an old time fav.) and enjoyed the rest of the night with family and friends. A fun, but exhausting day for my weak pregnant body.

Sunday brought more fun, but more exhaustion. We have church at 9:00 a.m., which is way too early for me. Jordan is the ex. secretary in the ward, so he has early meetings... which leaves me to get myself and Trey ready for church without his help. (I don't know how I'll do this with two kids, come this summer.) It was Trey's first day of nursery, so were were very excited. Things went well! They said he fussed for a minute at the beginning, after I left, but was fine the rest of the time.

After church we came home, cleaned house for awhile, then headed to my brother's ward for their baby's blessing at 2:00. Warren gave a wonderful blessing to their baby boy named Parker. After that, we came home, picked up the house a little more, then everyone came over to our house for dinner in honor of Parker. It was a lot of fun with a lot of great food to eat. Another busy, but great day. (Jordan decided that he had attended about 6 hours of church.)
